Sam's Cafe (Washington Corridor)

Sam's Cafe used to be my go-to Chinese food spot, until they changed ownership.  I used to always get the Saute Green Beans, but I used to add tofu which they then named The Kim Special, after me.  But, since the ownership has changed, I went once and the food was totally different and never went back again.  Recently, they changed ownership again and their manager asked me if I would kindly remove the last review I gave, which was a 2 stars rating.  Instead of removing it, I wanted to try it first and the food wasn't bad, but it wasn't great.  The Orange Chicken was deep fried, which isn't how the original Sam's used to make it.  I wasn't that impressed with it, the others were ok actually, but might be better than the last owner.  I give it a 2.5 stars.  I may be brave and try it again...we'll see...

iPic (River Oaks District)

I really loved it and would love to come back as a place to social with friends. Sure the tickets cost double what I pay at Sundance but for the fun atmosphere, I think it's worth it. I tried the Studio Movie Grill at city center and hated it! People walking around taking orders while you're trying to watch the move, very distracting. iPic was totally different! You got the special treatment and nobody was ever walking in front of you, blocking the screen. It almost felt like first class seats on an airline. You can also recline the seats if you want. There's a small pillow and blanket. Food isn't bad and there complimentary popcorn. My only complaint was it was too warm in the theater and uncomfortable for me towards the end. It was a great idea for date night! I'd like to do it again with couple friends and maybe hang out a little more on their awesome social rooms!

Arhaus (Galleria)

My first time visiting Arhaus, pronounced "our house".  I think I've always been intimidated by this retailer, but it wasn't till I saw a couple pieces in homes and started receiving their catalogues, I decided I wanted to make a visit.  I happen to be in the area, so why not...I decided to stop in, and there were so many pieces I loved.  If I didn't already have a fabulous piece from Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams, I probably would look here for a big piece for the living room.  I really liked the outdoor furniture as well...maybe later.  We're doing way too much purchasing at the moment, so for now, I just want to get that one pillow to finish my master bedroom decor, which is the white fluffy pillow in the fourth shot above.  Real Sheep's fur, they said, $104.

Teahouse (Memorial Park)

I usually get the milk tea with 3/4 sugar, which I love love love! Best bubble tea hands down! This time, I tried the milk tea with 2% milk instead of the default creamer. See the difference in color? I was expecting it to be nasty, but it actually wasn't bad. I'll try whole milk next time and report back.
