Samurai Noodle

I'll be honest, I wasn't that impressed. It might be what I ordered, the Spicy Chicken Ramen. The inside of the restaurant was ok, but just looking around it just seemed a little unclean. It's probably due to the high traffic, but even the condiments looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while. I may try it again, try something more popular, but you know, with all the great restaurants out it's hard to give a place a second chance...but I will try.

Tip, I suggest going with the soft noodles, ramen noodles al dente does not taste good.

Hunky Dory in the Heights

I wasn't expecting anything really, wasn't sure what to expect.  I knew the outside looked pretty interesting.  As I'm walking onto the property I notice more and more interesting items.  Nice little herb garden outside, nice outdoor sitting area, nice entrance, bar, dining area...and I also noticed there was a lot going on with the decor.  There's industrial, mid century modern, lots of different colors, patterns, textures...lots going on inside, so much to look at!  But overall it was nice, comfy.

Our sever, the grey fox, was great, super helpful and pleasant.  I ordered the green salad and the Snapper Tartare for my meal and Janice got the Chicken Tikka Masala.  My salad was interesting, light and some good textures, raisins, pistachio, kind of sweet, but not too sweet.  My snapper on a chip was excellent. I am uber picky when it comes to my seafood and this snapper was very nice, fresh!  Janice says she liked her Masala.  I took and bite and it was pretty good, rich.  We also ordered 2 desserts, one the Lemon Pudding Cake and we asked him to surprise us with the other...he brought out the Dark Chocolate Terrine and it was a fabulous choice!  We liked that more then the Lemon Pudding.  Not overly sweet, great textures, smooth, really delicious!

We enjoyed our experience very much and I will definitely put this on the list of new restaurants to take and introduce people to!  By the way, same owner as Feast and Bernadine's.

Finding Avalon Stationery & Gifts (Upper Kirby)

You know...there's something about that small mom and pop shop.  In this world of big store chains it's nice to come across a sweet little shop like Avalon.  I had a sweet lady help me with my new personal work stationary.  She really took the time to help me through the selections and designing it and just really provided not only great customer service but personal care, which I really appreciate.  Especially knowing how picky I can be, she really helped with the details on proper etiquette for personal stationary.  That was awesome!  Turns out she's the owner!  They're really great there and if you're looking for stationary and gifts, what a wonderful place to support!  Love local businesses!  Especially those that deserve it!  I purchased 100 personalized notecards and envelopes each, came out to $200.

I was actually on my way to Paper Source when I happen to see Avalon Stationary.  I'm so glad I gave it a chance.   Truthfully, it might have been a tad more but it was worth the help and experience.  And you know us inner loopers love uniqueness and character, so if you're looking for stationary and gifts, check out Avalon!

Clean Rite Power Washing

If you're looking for a power washing service, I recently used Clean Rite.  It was $250 for the house, extra $25 for the garage and additional

$5 per window for an extra wipe down service, total was $395.  It took from 830-2pm and the house looks fabulous!  I should've taken some before photos, but believe me, after 2 years, our house was pretty dirty!  I thought Clean Rite did an excellent job!

Breakfast at Brasil

I'm excited because it's Sunday and we missed church due to a longer than expected showing and we're headed to eat but we're a little late for brunch, at most places...but today we found Brasil who serves breakfast till 3pm on the weekends!  Now we're talking!  I mean, you would think it's normal business practice to extend breakfast or brunch on the weekends...because people love breakfast...but no, they don't...except a few places like Brasil!!  So needless to say, we're very very happy.

Now, I noticed their weekend breakfast menu is different from their weekday.  It seems like there are more items on the weekday menu, which doesn't make sense to me.  I mean, shouldn't your weekend breakfast/brunch menu be bigger than your weekday menu?  I mean how many people get breakfast at a restaurant on the weekdays?  I know I don't!

However, we did notice the guy next to us had pancakes.  We asked how he got the pancakes and apparently they have a specials menu, we missed that.  So, definitely check out their specials menu, which is on the black board near the entry door.

On the food, we thought was good, not excellent.  But hey, I'm not complaining, just letting you all know.  It gets pretty crowded, but there is a good crowd, good for you people watchers!  Alright, that's it for now...till next tiime!
